About SWAGS
The Social Work Association for Graduate Students (SWAGS) is the student representative body for Master of Social Work (MSW) students at the University of Melbourne. Our committee is comprised of social work graduate students from diverse backgrounds and at various stages of their MSW program. We are affiliated with the Graduate Student Association (GSA) and receive their support for student advocacy and events.

SWAGS has three main functions:
-
Professional Development - organising seminars and workshops for students on topics relating to social work;
-
Social Events - hosting a variety of events for students to socialise and network; and
-
Advocacy - advocating for students' rights and well-being in the MSW.

We collaborate closely with the University's Department of Social Work, maintaining regular communication about student issues and interests with essential stakeholders. It is our goal to ensure that students' diverse perspectives are heard, and that students are involved in the design and delivery of a MSW curriculum that is accessible, inclusive, and equitable.

We welcome all students to approach us with any concerns about the course content, placement, or the MSW in general; and we also welcome any students to join our general committee as a student representative. Make your voices heard!
